social media manager

part time- 3-4 hours per week

The Signal House Edition is recruiting a Social Media Manager for roughly 3-4 hours per week. We are in our founding year and The Edition is currently an unfunded, artist-run enterprise. This role is likewise an unpaid position at present, but has scope for professional development and growth as our publication grows.

 

We are of course happy to discuss the size of the commitment with the right candidate.


This role will suit somebody excited to develop the reach of a new brand across multiple social channels, who is able to work autonomously and with a good intuition for the style and tone of the publication. Whether you are a current or recent graduate in Marketing/ PR, or an someone with aspirations to work in the publishing start-up space.


About the Signal House Edition: 
Founded in 2020, The Signal House Edition is a monthly online, free arts journal featuring living poets, fiction writers, essayists, storytellers and visual artists from around the world. The Edition is an independent department of The Signal House, a performance collective based in London. 
The combined editorial team has professional experience working in the US, Australia, Europe and the UK and is composed of widely-published authors and live performance practitioners.


About You: 
The Social Media Manager will help develop The Edition readership and subscription base over Facebook, twitter and instagram.
The Signal House Edition represents a plurality of voices and viewpoints, and in particular welcomes work by those traditionally marginalised by mainstream presses. Anti-racism and representing a plurality of peoples and voices is something we are striving for, and we see this as integral to this role, the candidate, and the responsibilities outlined below. 
 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Manage social media posting across all channels upon release of each monthly  issue and post individual articles during the month.
Interact with, monitor and report on social media activity and growth.
Contribute to our diversity outreach strategy through social connections (both contributors and readers)
Attend two publishing meetings per month via zoom

In addition you:
Enjoy collaborating with others and work well in a team
Have a good intuition for brand and brand development.
Will be passionate about the arts, culture, and publishing
Want to support and champion under-represented voices
